The event that started my fifteen year quest to manage chronic pain was an automobile accident in 1987 that herniated two disks in my spine. Every medical doctor I saw told me that my pain would only get worse as I aged. Fortunately, they also introduced me to self-hypnosis, biofeedback and meditation, my first exposure to alternative healing methods.
A major turning point occurred in March 2002 when I read The Mindbody Prescription: Healing the Body, Healing the Pain by Dr. John Sarno. In two months of practicing the techniques in his book I was ecstatic to be pain-free. This coincided with ending my home-based childcare business after 8 ½ fulfilling and rewarding years.
I studied real estate investing and over the next 18 months, my partners and I successfully completed 15 deals. I was invited to present information at a focus group on foreclosures and also made numerous presentations to loan officers and other investors for GAP, an investment group. Not finding real estate as spiritually or personally fulfilling as childcare, I felt drawn to open a small business.
In March 2004, I opened a women's circuit gym, Fitness Zone, and offered a safe environment for women to achieve physical fitness. I thrived on the creative challenge of developing a business I was proud of. I was delighted to be invited by the people I purchased my equipment from to speak at their national conference for hydraulic circuit gyms three years in a row. I also spoke about fitness at the women’s groups of my member’s churches. I found I have a passion for sharing information.
That first year we were open, much to my surprise -- and I believe by being fully committed to the members -- I experienced being a physical empath: I was literally feeling in my body what other people were feeling in their bodies. Since I had no knowledge of what it meant or how to manage it, I enrolled in a one year course with a Tibetan Shaman to study healing with energy.
During this same year I discovered EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique.) I was so amazed and convinced at the rapid benefits of EFT that I became an EFT practitioner. My developing empathic and intuitive abilities created my unique style with EFT, enabling me to quickly identify the core issue to tap on.
In 2005, I began teaching Intro classes on EFT through Leisure Learning Unlimited, an adult continuing education center in Houston. I wanted to be available to others like me on a path of personal growth who wanted to explore how they could help themselves. Teaching these classes led to more clients, fueling my continuing passion to serve others and share information.
At the end of 2006, I closed Fitness Zone to focus entirely on developing and sharing my abilities with energy healing through teaching and private sessions. The last several years have been a great adventure, developing my energetic gifts, collaborating with other healers and getting involved in various projects which you will find here on my website.
In March of 2008, the Thursday Tapping for group EFT began. My commitment was to show up as long as room rental was covered through donations. It is a joyous miracle that it continues all these years!
After a year of Thursday evenings, I realized that many people had questions about how to feel better. I have always found it to be a two-part process: 1) clear enough space to add in the new and 2) learn how to apply the new to daily life! Questions led me to offer a Monday night class called Self-Invest: The Next Step for those seeking to integrate metaphysical teachings into their personal lives. That led to ever increasing coaching clients. I find great joy in offering guidance to people who are actively seeking to empower themselves to live life in the most effective and joyful way. (Find more details about Self-Invest: The Next Step on the Event page.)
