My Story
Today I find my life a fun and engaging ride of possibility. A fascinating and much appreciated way of living that is quite the contrast to the first few decades of my life.
My favorite aspect of my life is supporting others in their unique desires.
I am a teacher of vibrational law, life coach, channel of the Emissarians, speaker, retreat leader, and author. Also, I am a wife, mother, eternal student, pet owner, artist, gardener, foodie, friend, sister, daughter, and explorer of living life on purpose with purpose!
Like yours, my life isn’t simply linear. Rather it is interwoven and overlapping. Here are some of the big highlights in my journey that led to my living my passion in my work, from the beginning:
My family came from England to America when I was four. We became US citizens when I was seven. I was exposed to the drug culture at a very young age. Without any core self-esteem, I had many difficult and dysfunctional relationships, even marrying at 19 and divorcing at 21. I had no sense of who, or what, I wanted to be or what to aim for.
Then, in 1987, the Universe literally rear-ended me into a new chapter though three pivotal events: chronic pain from whiplash in a car accident, reading Melody Beattie’s Codependent No More, and meeting Greg. The car accident happened when I had no insurance, so my new norm was financial stress on top of needing medical guidance to heal my body. I was introduced to biofeedback, meditation and self-hypnosis at a chronic pain center in Houston in 1987, my first exposure to alternative healing methods. After the accident I ended a relationship and was living on my own, working retail for a very low salary. In an attempt to better my life I began working a second job and I started at the Art Institute of Houston. Then, due to my hands going numb, in great disappointment I dropped out of the Art Institute after one semester.
Beattie’s book had opened my eyes. I realized I was a stereotype (so embarrassing!) and discovered that I could read books, process the material and be able to transform my life in a positive way. I’ve never stopped seeking and reading. The part-time job allowed me to meet Greg. We’ve been married since 1989 and I think of my life story in terms of “before Greg” and “with Greg,” with the latter being my journey into health and joy. The chronic pain led me into entrepreneurship for income, and meditation for relief.
Both our sons are fertility babies, meaning it was a long arduous project getting pregnant, and there were also a few early miscarriages. My tailbone broke in the first delivery; more pain and challenge for my body.
I always give credit to Sean, my second child, for propelling me on this journey of spirituality. He was born so incredibly angry. It was astounding the intensity of his emotions. One of my siblings was also a very angry child and person. As an adult, he spent years in prison. So, I was determined to find answers to help my son to avoid that fate. I did find answers and more than I could have imagined: teachers, energy workers, and protocols that led me into EFT, teaching, coaching and even channeling.
Being a mother I realized I was quite clear I wanted to parent differently than the way I was raised. I wanted to keep all that was good and up level what was painful to me as a child. I read books on parenting and child developmental stages. I also spent two years (the concepts were that foreign to me) reading Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
Another major turning point occurred in March 2002 when I read The Mindbody Prescription: Healing the Body, Healing the Pain by Dr. John Sarno. In practicing the technique in his book, I was ecstatic to be pain-free within just two months, right in time for my fortieth birthday! This coincided with ending my home-based childcare business after eight and a half years of fulfilling and rewarding work. Sean was school age and it would be impossible to manage two sons’ after school sports if I was working late with other people’s children.
Next I began real estate investing working with foreclosures. During the next eighteen months, my partners and I successfully completed fifteen profitable deals. This involved witnessing hundreds of people losing their homes and being unable to help them was emotionally grueling to me. Still committed to creating income around my sons’ school schedules, I felt drawn to open yet another small business.
In March 2004, I opened a women’s circuit gym, Fitness Zone, and offered a safe environment for women to achieve physical fitness. It was a highly creative time for me as I developed paperwork, schedules, workouts, newsletters and also coached employees and members. I was delighted to be invited by the people I purchased my equipment from to speak at their national conference for hydraulic circuit gyms three years in a row. I also spoke about fitness at the women’s groups of my member’s churches. These experiences clarified my passion for sharing information.
That first year we were open, much to my surprise — and I believe by being fully committed to the members — I experienced being a physical empath: I was literally feeling in my body what other people were feeling in their bodies. Since I had no knowledge of what it meant or how to manage it, I enrolled in a one-year course with a Tibetan Shaman to study healing with energy.
During this same year I discovered EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques.) I was so amazed at the rapid benefits of EFT that I became an EFT practitioner. My developing empathic and intuitive abilities created my unique style with EFT, enabling me to quickly identify or channel the core issue to tap on, much to my surprise!
In 2005, I began teaching Intro classes on EFT through Leisure Learning Unlimited an adult continuing education center in Houston. I wanted to be available to others like me on a path of personal growth who wanted to explore how they could help themselves. Teaching these classes led to more clients, fueling my continuing passion to serve others and share information.
At the end of 2006, after Katrina affected our economy and with 3 big name gyms opening within two miles of my small gym, I closed Fitness Zone and filed bankruptcy. My most painful life experience since infertility included losing the daily interactions with members, ruining our credit, blowing all my ‘responsible’ ego identities, and in fear of what I’d do next. My adrenals were shot, I cried daily and I also lived what I was learning about vibrational law simply because I knew how to think from Covey’s book about spiritual principles that he nicknamed “Habits”. I utilized EFT and other methods to keep me on track to turn the worst time into a catalyst for positive change. I knew how I showed up in the heartbreaking and ego crushing circumstances would influence my future experiences. I was literally living what I teach today on pure faith during that time.
Becoming an EFT Practitioner in 2007 was a great adventure of facing many personal fears and developing my energetic gifts. Sharing my abilities with energy work through teaching and private sessions, I also participated in many projects (even created a two day Healing Expo in 2012 that included ten speakers and over forty vendors). I chose to always push my comfort zones to contribute and grow spiritually.
At the request of many people, in March of 2008, the weekly Thursday Tapping for Group EFT began. My commitment was to show up as long as room rental was covered through donations. It is a joyous miracle that it continued for just under 9 years, all the way into November of 2016. See the audio library for thousands of EFT tapping recordings, organized by category, from those public group sessions. In my personal listening to the recordings, I noticed a much higher loving consciousness communicating in the tapping.
After a year of Thursday evenings, I realized that many people had questions about how to feel better. I have always found it to be a two-part process: 1) clear enough space to add in the new and 2) learn how to apply the new to daily life! Questions led me to offer an additional weekly class called Self-Invest: The Next Step for those seeking to integrate metaphysical teachings into their personal lives. In the classes, I again noticed very profound guidance coming through and literally invested hours recapping the classes to educate myself. In 2018 an entire stream of information on the Logic of the Law of Attraction came through leading to my book The Logical Law of Attraction being completed in January 2020.
The consistently loving, non-judgmental and intelligent information coming through me in tapping and teaching weekly fueled my curiosity and led me to fully channel in 2016. Surprisingly frightening at some illogical but visceral level, I again applied my understanding of how to think to follow all the way through. I invested in supporting my physical body to hold that vibration more comfortably. You can see and hear that stream of consciousness at www.Emissarians.com.
As I evolved in comfort with accessing new levels of understanding my one-on-one sessions eventually evolved over time: Beginning with only EFT and then combining coaching with tapping, and often simply coaching, all depending on the needs of the individual client.
Although I often taught EFT to groups as varied as hospice volunteers, veterans, addicts, support groups, counselors, college teachers and even elementary school teachers, I was thrilled that in 2016 I was invited to lead a women’s retreat in Utah. This retreat has become an annual event, which I truly enjoy. It provides the opportunity for me to work intensely, through group and individual coaching and tapping, creating great change individually and collectively over a few days.
On my journey of expansion in my chosen ‘yes’ energy with principle based thought guiding all my actions, I had three books flow through me into form in one year and a half! What a journey of pushing against all comfort zones! In that time there was also an unexpected conference speaking opportunity to teach from my first printed book the week it went to print. Living principle based thought has continually opened doors of the next uncomfortable and delightful expansion for me.
I find great fulfillment in offering guidance to people who are actively seeking to empower themselves to live life in the most effective and joyful way. Results motivate me, and success comes through my offering logic, clarity and energy to those ready for positive change through my live interactions, books, videos and audios. I invite you to explore some of my offerings and see if we’re a good fit for positive change!
